Born of Wood

After many experiments, I finally arrived at a satisfying outcome: casting my deep-carved redwood sculptures into bronze.

Material exploration is central to my practice, and this process opened a new set of questions. When wood becomes bronze, how much of the original material’s memory is truly retained? What remains of its growth, its texture, its life?

And perhaps this extends beyond material transformation — what other illusions or assumptions do we carry with us as things change form?
